Prose: Hurzeler excels at making an inhospitable world feel tangible. The writing is crisp and immersive, capturing the physical realities of life on the shattered asteroid through vivid descriptions of failing habitats, vacuum exposure, and the constant struggle to keep essential systems running. Action sequences are easy to follow, while quieter conversations reveal shifting alliances and growing distrust without sacrificing momentum.

Originality: Hurzeler gives the survival premise its own identity by transplanting themes of greed, isolation, and survival into an unforgiving extraterrestrial environment. Engineering problems, resource management, and the practical demands of staying alive beyond Earth carry as much weight as the human conflict, giving the story a distinctive edge.

Character Execution: Every major character believes they are acting in the colony’s best interest, which makes their conflicting choices convincing. Adrian Jacobs grows into leadership through decisions that test both his confidence and his conscience. Marty O’Rourke’s steady maturation gives the story a more personal perspective.
